We usually imagine that Sunday School and Children’s Church might be considered to be one and the same thing. Unfortunately, many people think the same, and that constitute part of the reason why we do not bring out the very best of our children when reaching to them with the gospel during their formative years.
Sunday School is for Christian Education, while Children’s Church is for Evangelism, Discipleship and Worship. Sunday School’s main function is to help kids know what the Bible and Christianity are all about. Children’s Church functions to reaching Kids with the opportunity to find Jesus as their Saviour, to learn how to put what they know about being a Christian into practice in their daily lives, and to learn how to worship God. These are not just childcare services while the parents are attending church services.
In Candlelighters International, we approach the Kids Ministry with this understanding; and it guides and directs all the products and services we develop. We intentionally develop resources that focus on the production of specific results for the specific setting.
In Candlelighters International, and through our tools and services, we strive to make either Sunday Schools and Children’s Church not to be a simple Child Care Service. We intentionally develop our resources in ways that target the deep development of the Christian Worldview and character in the kids.
In addition, our tools and products will focus on establishing a complementary link for children at home, with those provided to them during Sunday School or Children’s Church.
