A New Believer In Jesus Christ: A Personal Journey of Blessings

Welcome!

We are exceedingly joyful that you have finally made it home into the bosom of your Lord (our Lord) and Savior Jesus Christ. For Christ is All and in All (Colossians 3:11). “Perhaps you yourselves do not realize that Christ Jesus is in you” —2 Corinthians 13:5. For us at Candlelighters International, you are not yet a Christian; but you are a believer in God THROUGH Christ Jesus,  as you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior –  Romans 10:9; 1 John 4:15. You become a Christian when your character, person, mind, actions, etc., becomes similar to that of Jesus Christ; that is to say when you become Christ-like.

In Acts 11:26, that was the very first time the followers of Jesus Christ were called “Christians”. This was due to their Christ-like actions. Therefore, becoming a Christian is a personal journey that calls for a serious observation of the life and actions of Jesus Christ as indicated in the Bible, and trying to reflect his character here on earth.

Welcome to this beautiful and glorious adventurous journey. You must know that Jesus Christ, through the power of the Holy Spirit, fills his children with the fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). With such fruits manifesting in your life, you will be able to grasp fully, with all the holy ones, the breadth and length and height and depth of Christ’s love, and experience this love which surpasses all knowledge, so that you may attain to the fullness of God Himself (Ephesians 3:18-2).

The Bible As Your Anchor

You will find the Bible as your anchor for this journey. This you must know:

  1. The Bible contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of believers. Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are binding, its histories are true, and its decisions are immutable.
  2. Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practice it to be holy. It contains light to direct you, food to support you, and comfort to cheer you.
  3. It is the traveler’s map, the pilgrim’s staff, the pilot’s compass, the soldier’s sword and the Christian’s charter. Here too, Heaven is opened and the gates of Hell disclosed.
  4. Christ is its grand subject, our good its design, and the glory of God its end. It should fill the memory, rule the heart and guide the feet. Read it slowly, frequently and prayerfully.  It is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory, and a river of pleasure.
  5. It is given you in life, will be opened at the judgment, and be remembered forever. It involves the highest responsibility, rewards the greatest labor, and will condemn all who trifle with its sacred contents.
